E75 in northern Finland

Next to breeding reindeer, the local Saami use the E75 as an extra source of income. Igloo-park 'Kakslauttanen' extended its existing facility with three brand new glass-steel-concrete igloos. Each igloo contains two bunkbeds and a shower.

In the northern part of Finland, the E75 seems to be the Finnish version of Route 66: a tarmac road, with a yellow line, curving through a magnificent landscape of frozen lakes, snowy hills and forests.

In the remote areas of northern Finland, the asphalt of the E75 is suddenly very broad. It is not allowed to stop: this stretch of the E75 is in use as an emergency landing-strip.

About 1,5 km north of Rovaniemi, de E75 crosses the Arctic circle. The intersection of the E75 with this virtual, geographical line is announced by big billboards and marked with a wooden arch and a Sante Claus themepark.
